This is too crazy. About 15 minutes, I backed over a whole thing of Carpet Fresh that had been laying in the driveway (unnoticed) apparently since this morning when it apparently fell out all those shopping bags I was lugging in the house. Later (about 15 minutes ago) I went outside to back the truck up under the carport. Put her in park, rolled all the windows up, got out, and a sweet noxious odor damn near knocked me out. “wtf is that smell? ….. holy crap would you look at this white mess all over the place? And it’s raining.” Smells like a bad gardenia in bloom out there. It would scare me away.
UNDER the harvest moon,
When the soft silver
Over the garden nights,
Death, the gray mocker,
Comes and whispers to you
As a beautiful friend
Under the summer roses
When the flagrant crimson
Lurks in the dusk
Of the wild red leaves,
Love, with little hands,
Comes and touches you
With a thousand memories,
And asks you
Beautiful, unanswerable questions.
“The desires of the heart are as crooked as corkscrews
Not to be born is the best for man
The second best is a formal order
The dance’s pattern, dance while you can.
Dance, dance, for the figure is easy
The tune is catching and will not stop
Dance till the stars come down with the rafters
Dance, dance, dance till you drop.”—W.H. Auden (via jerzee55)
